Functional fitness and Vit. D levels in patients with hepatopathy
Brtková, Helena ; Novák, František (advisor) ; Meisnerová, Eva (referee)
Introduction: patients with hepatopathy are at risk of vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D levels affect, among other things, metabolism and physiological functions of muscle tissue and thus functional fitness. The aim of this study is to assess muscle mass and strength in relation to vitamin D levels and other factors that affect functional physical fitness in patients with cirrhosis, compared to a control group of patients without hepatopathy and other chronic comorbidities. Methods: 11 patients with liver cirrhosis were enrolled in an observational cohort study compared with 11 controls without chronic comorbidities. Anthropometric and bioimpedance measurements were performed, functional tests, the 6MWT 6-minute walk test, hand grip strength assessment and calorimetry examination were also evaluated, and laboratory parameters were assessed. Study participants completed the CLDQ test, which assessed the quality of life of people with liver disease. Respondents answered questions regarding lifestyle, eating habits, physical activity and functional physical fitness. For patients with cirrhosis, the Child Pugh score and MELD score were used to assess the progression of cirrhosis. Results. At the time of the study, the vast majority of patients had a compensated form of liver cirrhosis, Child Pugh A...
Body Composition and Motor Performance of Roma Children in the Most District
Česák, Petr ; Bunc, Václav (advisor) ; Havel, Zdeněk (referee) ; Kutáč, Petr (referee)
Title: Body Composition and Motor Performance of Roma Children in the Most District Background: The Roma way of life, or rather the values they live up to, is different from the values and way of life of the majority population. This results in a lower life expectancy of the Roma and a worse social position in Czech society, even in total social exclusion. Since the individual's lifestyle evolves from childhood on, we focused on assessing the lifestyle using several parameters of body composition and motor performance of Roma children in socially excluded Roma localities Aims: The aim of this thesis is to find out the influence of the lifestyle of Roma children living in socially excluded Roma localities in the Most district on their body composition and motor performance. The second goal is to compare the body composition and motor performance of the children from majority population and socially excluded children from the Most district with the Czech children population standards. Methods: In total 733 children 7-15 years of age participated in the study, of which 448 were from majority population of the Most district (221 girls and 227 boys) and 285 children were from socially excluded Roma localities in the Most district (124 girls and 161 boys). Bioelectric impedance analysis (BIA 2000 M...
Maintaining physical fitness and exercise adherence in healthy elderly women
Kuhnová, Barbora ; Daďová, Klára (advisor) ; Majorová, Simona (referee)
Author: Bc. Barbora Kuhnová Title: Maintaining physical fitness and adherence to physical activity in healthy elderly women. Objective: The main goal of the thesis is to find out whether or not the seniors that participated in the project EXODYA back in 2017 and 2018, managed to maintain the level of physical fitness and adherence to physical aktivity (PA). The secondary goal was to determine the level of current PA and also how the level of PA was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Method: This is an empirical-theoretical study with a qualitative-quantitative research design. The research group I (N=30, average age 72 ± 4,02 years) took part in a questionnaire survey that included the International Physical Activity Questionnaire IPAQ and supplementary questions about influencing PA by the pandemics, using Google form. The research group II was made by 7 women that were also part of the research group I and that took part in the EXODYA project in 2018. The testing of these women consisted of 4 items of the Senior Fitness Test, hand grip strength using a digital hand dynamometer and maximum oxygen demand based on a stress test on a bicycle ergometer. Results: Most of the senior women who participated in the EXODYA project in 2018 maintained a level of physical fitness as well as adherence to PA....
